About: Gold Mountain Coffee Growers is a collective of Nicaraguan coffee farmers dedicated to fighting poverty through high-quality specialty coffee. This unique collective connects small-scale farmers directly with roasters, ensuring they receive a higher, fairer price for their work. Gold Mountain goes beyond trade, providing free technical assistance, and reinvesting in their communities by funding educational programs and undertaking significant environmental projects, like protecting a private rainforest.
Finca El Diamante, owned by the skilled farmer Blanca Nieve, is a part of this collective and is the source of this Red Catuai and Red Caturra blend. Grown at 1470 meters in Jinotega, Nicaragua, this coffee ripens slowly, allowing its beans to develop a complex and flavorful profile. This washed coffee consistently delivers notes of honey, stone fruit, and spice and showcases Blanca Nieve's meticulous farming practices.
We try to give recommendations for how to prepare based on what we're making at home, but I think what stands out how many awards this coffee has won over time in pour over, espresso, and milk based drink categories. Based on our observations, there's a reason for that. This coffee is bright and stands out on the table amongst other coffees. Fresh fruits, honey sweetness, and subtle spice burst in pour over, and as espresso, it's very balanced. Another great do it all daily driver.
Shout out to the team at Gold Mountain for providing us with some photos of Blanca Nieve's operation.
